Overview

The government have their policy with regard to construction and produced a number of standard forms which are radically different than those previously used. One of the forms are for the engagement of construction consultants.

A feature of this document is the introduction of elements of risk which have not been previously present and an understanding of this fixed fee contract is important to the commercial viability of all consultants engaged on public construction work.

Aim

To provide an understanding of the terms and risk in the conditions of engagement and the appointment of consultants.

Trainer's profile

James Golden, BEng LLB CEng FICE MCIArb FInstCES MRICS

James is a barrister, chartered engineer and surveyor. He is widely experienced in all aspects of construction claims and dispute resolution. Always commercially minded, he has a reputation of grasping the key issues quickly and thoroughly with the ability to explain them to decision makers and clients alike.

James’ experience includes advocating for clients and acting as an expert witness. He regularly acts as contract administrator and/or project manager and also acts as an examiner of the institution of civil engineers.
