Project Management Society

The Project Management Society is a special interest group for engineers who are involved in project management.

About

About this network

The Project Management Society promotes a greater understanding of project management as a key discipline on engineering projects, and strives to help you master the skills you need to become an excellent project manager.

We also provide our members with a professional and social network for learning and developing potential business opportunities. Members can network with their peers and with representatives from associated industry groups at events organised by the society.

Who can join?

The Project Management Society network is of particular relevance to those whose work, study or research involves managing engineering projects.

However, membership is open to all members of Engineers Ireland.

How to join

If you are already a member of Engineers Ireland, you can join any number of Regions, Divisions and Societies in our Members Area

It is free to join our network, and once you join, you can:
  • Use our discussion forum
  • Post comments on articles and blogs
  • Join the Contacts Network to locate and send messages to other professionals

Use of IT in Managing Information and Data on Construction Projects – A Perspective For The Irish Construction Industry

Presented by Alan Hore, Dublin Institute Of Technology

21 March, 2006

Content

The use of ICT in construction has been sporadic and piecemeal. Very significant inefficiencies and problems still exist in both paper transactions and non-integrated electronic solutions. Despite over two decades of significant advancements in ICT, the adoption of ICT Irish construction industry has been largely piecemeal. This paper will seek to highlight the key drivers, opportunities for the electronic support of the construction process together with currently available ICT applications to support the construction process. The paper will finally progress to reflect on the role of the Construction IT Alliance (CITA) in addressing the potential of ICT in the Irish construction sector.
