South-East region
About
About the region
The South-East Region organises a variety of educational and social events each year which create networking opportunities for members.
We also organise site visits which offer members an insight into different engineering disciplines and significant engineering projects taking place within the region.
We have developed strong links with higher education institutions, including Waterford IT and IT Carlow, evidenced by their provision of webcasting support for our evening lectures and their involvement in key Engineers Ireland events, including:
- Engineers Week
- Regional KNEX challenges
Who can join?
- Engineers and engineering technicians working in the region
- Engineering consultancies and support servicing companies
- Local government and semi-state organisation workers involved in engineering
- Academic researchers, lecturers and students
How to join
If you are already a member of Engineers Ireland, and gave a correspondence address in Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford or Tipperary when you joined, you have automatically been affiliated with this network.
If your correspondence address is outside these 5 counties, you can still join our network through the Members Area
It is free to join our network. Once you register as a member of a network, you can choose to:
- receive email updates on all events being run by the South East Region network
- use our network's discussion forum
- post comments on articles written by other network members
- comment on our network blog
- send messages to other members of our network
Events
All our events allow members to make contacts and network with their peers and industry representatives, and contribute to their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
We organise around five lectures from September to June on topics including:
- Health and safety legislation
- Rainwater collection
- Waste management
Other events where members can meet and network include:
- Site visits
- Events to promote engineering
- Golf outings
- An annual table quiz and annual dinner dance
